What We Do

In the galaxy of stars, there are always a few stars that shine brightest. Likewise, in the universe of professionals there are a few who have distinguished themselves at a level that outshines their peers. Our job is to work with our Clients to find those candidates that are truly distinguished. We are fully committed to an operating process that has been a reliable template for identifying a wide population of qualified candidates for the most challenging searches.

The Goodson Company is a retained search firm; that means that our engagement with the Client is contractual and exclusive; it is a proven way to conduct business and prudent investment of your time and resources. We welcome the opportunity to discuss our Letter of Engagement with prospective Clients at any time.

Before we launch a search, ample time is devoted to the development of Search Specifications. This detailed document is designed to put into writing the major components of what should be mutually understood in a professional search. It is often edited until both parties are in full agreement with this guiding document. The Search Specifications include many of the following provisions.

  • Concise discussion of the Client company that confirms that we know who the Client is, what they do, their corporate culture, and history.
  • It is essential that the Client and The Goodson Company have a mirror image of the ideal candidate profile for the search which we have been retained, in order to identify a group of highly qualified candidates.
  • The detailed position description including the scope of responsibilities; requisite qualifications and experience; plus any enhancement factors.
  • The work location and what flexibility exists, if any.
  • The reporting line for the position and other key relationships within the organization.
  • Compensation – Base Salary, Bonus, Commission, and any other components of short-term or long-term compensation.
  • Benefits and Relocation – we do not discuss benefit packages with Clients deferring instead to the Client human resources department. We do however discuss relocation and the relocation package at the appropriate time.
  • We outline the interview and hiring process; beginning with our screening timeline and followed by telephone interviews; and then on-site interviews.
  • The Goodson Company works with the Client on the structure of an offer of employment and generally makes the offer on behalf of our Client and acts as a facilitator in the final negotiations leading to the acceptance of the offer of employment.
  • From the acceptance of the offer through the first six months on the job, we are in touch with both the Client and the successful Candidate to ensure that all parties are pleased with their decision and the progress being made.

We are with you from beginning until the end of the search and beyond. We are truly partners with our Client in this process. Part of our role is to take the day-to-day minutia off of the Client's desk and use our expertise in process management to direct you to the brightest star possible.
